Program: Care and maintenance of California woody plants with consideration of their Mediterranean climate zone differences and requirements. Cultural needs and their character are discussed during the lecture, which covers the basic craft of pruning, structuring plants, recognizing forms of specific species and how their habit informs the way we prune, pruning timing, and interweaving artistic concepts for achieving the best results for the health of the plant.

Speaker: Jocelyn Cohen is the principal at Poetree Landscapes and Arboriculture. As a Certified Arborist and Certified Aesthetic Pruner, she has extensive experience with pruning tree care and land or garden restoration. Jocelyn brings deep understanding of the interfaces between forestry, arboriculture and urban forestry. Her focus in each landscape or garden is to bring out the essence of the tree(s), combining sound horticulture knowledge, the needs of the client and the health and well-being of the trees and shrubs.
