Gardening Tips - Baby Your Tomatoes

cherry tomatoes
What fun to have little cherry tomatoes to add to your salads to add color and popping sweet taste!  This year we are offering multiple colors and all will produce an abundance of fruit.

Cherry tomatoes are indeterminate, meaning they will keep on producing until frost or cold weather arrives.  They definitely need tall support and pruning to reduce legginess and encourage larger fruit.

A few tips:

  • Avoid wetting the foliage or fruit with overhead watering
  • Keep adequate moisture in the deeper soil layers even when plants are small
  • Gradually reduce the frequency of watering to every 7 - 10 days for mature plants that have set fruit
