33689183532

The “Exploring Habitats” field trip project is co-sponsored by Marin Master Gardeners and the Marin Art & Garden Center (MAGC). Taking place in the inspiring Butterfly Habitat Garden at MAGC, these field trips are educational and enriching to children, teaching them the concept of a habitat and the interrelatedness of various components (air, water, shelter and food) that comprise a habitat. Students delve into four distinct habitats – bird and pollinator garden, ponds, the woodland understory and compost bin where they learn about the importance of healthy soil. Some examples of things they may see and learn about are:

  • Pond life
  • Beneficial insects
  • Compost critters
  • Woodland trees, understory plants and wildlife
