Program: This comprehensive class focuses on the growth and training methods that will provide optimal flowering of Wisteria. It includes a discussion of the culture and history of wisteria and identification and discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of the different species of Wisteria.

Speaker: Pete Churgel is a Certified Aesthetic Pruner (CAP), an ISA Certified Arborist and an instructor at the Merritt College Landscape Horticultural Program. Pete is a favorite hands-on instructor for the Marin Master Gardener Pruning Guild and notably, has taught hands-on aesthetic pruning at Merritt College, at the Hakone Japanese Garden in Saratoga, and at the Chill Japanese Garden in Prague. In addition, he has done volunteer pruning at gardens in the Bay Area, Fresno and Seattle. He is a long-time member and pruning instructor for the Alameda Master Gardener Program, and a member of the East Bay Bonsai Society. In his business, he specializes in Aesthetic Pruning to enhance the natural beauty of small trees, shrubs, and vines, including Japanese, Mediterranean, English, and California native gardens.
