Description and Cultural Plant Tips

Dryopteris arguta is a native California ferns that grows in native oak forests and  on the north side of hills. It is smaller & lacier than the Western Sword Fern. Does best in a naturalized garden under oak trees. It is considered drought tolerant when established.

Although this plant will grow in most soils it does best in a loamy soi with a good layer of much to retain soil moisturel. Plant in dappled shade throughout Marin county.

No significant pest but can develop rust & fungal spot if there is too much summer moisture. Do not use overhead watering.
