Steve Quirt taught the class, sponsored by the UCCE Marin Master Gardeners, on Sat October 16th, along with the Conservation Corps North Bay.
Time: 10 am to 1 pm Fee: $30.
This class offered an inspiring and informative overview of the care and maintenance of the organic winter garden, including bed preparation, cultivation and fertility management, seed collection and sowing schedules for vegetables. Cover crops and compost building also were discussed. At the conclusion of classroom instruction students visited the IVC Organic Farm and Garden for some hands-on learning.
Steve Quirt is the UC Cooperative Extension Organic and Sustainable Agricultural Coordinator and a member of the West Marin farming community. In addition, he is an instructor at the College of Marin IVC campus.
