  • Description and Cultural Plant Tips

This clumping perennial puts out masses of single golden daisies with deep brown cones. These 2' plants send up numerous long, sturdy stems, each bearing a 3" bloom. It is a beautiful plant that looks good in a single clump or enmasse. It was the "1999 Perennial Plant of the Year."  Looks good with late blooming orange daylilies and the Big Sky series of coneflowers.

Plant in a sunny location in good soil with average drainage. It is drought tolerant and should be able to survive a drought with minimal water when established. Deadheading will keep the plant flowering well into the fall. Do not overwater.

This plant is attractive to bees and butterflies.

    No serious diseases or pests.

  • Master Gardener Comments

This plant really brightens up the midborder of a perennial garden. It is very easy to grow.  I like to use the flowers in mixed bouquets. They last for about a week when cut.
