  • Description and Cultural Plant Tips

This is one of the showiest of the smaller perennial buckwheats. The color of this long-blooming plant ranges fromlight pink to dark pink.Good companion plants for Eriogonum are Achillea 'Moonbeam', Agastache 'Apricot Sunset', Nepeta varietals  and daylilies.

This plant prefers clay soil but will tolerate seaside conditions and alkaline soil. Plant slightly higher than soil grade in full sun along coast and part shade in hot inland areas.

This is a great plant for a butterfly garden. Small butterflies such as Acmon Blue, and the Large White Skipper, especially like it. It is also an important food source for a range of beneficial insects.

No known disease or pest problems.

  • Master Gardener Comments

I have this plant in my butterfly garden and it always has a butterfly or two on it, especially the smaller ones. I have mine planted in morning sun with light shade in the afternoon.
