Description and Cultural Plant Tips
This is a fast growing evergreen vine with 3 inch long violet-lavender trumpet shaped flowers. The extended terminal shoots hang down and give a warterfall or curtain effect to an arbor or pergola. The flowering period extends from late spring into fall. This is not for a small yard but is great for vertical gardening such as on a wall or fence.
Plant this vine in sun or part shade in any soil with good drainage. Growth is more rampant in moist, fertile soils. Keep this plant on the dry side for better growth behavior and less pruning. Monthly pruning of unwanted long runners and spent flower spikes during the growing season may be necessary to keep it in the confines of your chosen area. Prune in late winter for more disciplined growth.
Bees add wildlife value to this plant.
No serious diseases or pests.
