The Program: The choices we make in designing and maintaining our landscape may impact native habitats, energy use, the air we breathe, and our Bay Area watershed. In our gardens, we want to create a diverse and healthy ecosystem where all living organisms are dependent upon each other and exist in harmony. Learn how to minimize your impact on our natural surroundings while enhancing your own native backyard ecosystem with sustainable gardening practices.
The Speaker: Betsy McGee has been a Marin Master Gardener since 2008. She has served on the Sustainable Landscape Practices committee, been a participant in the residential Marin-Friendly Garden Walks program, and has been a member of the Edibles Guild and the Plant ID Guild. A few years ago, Besty re-landscaped her own garden from a "lawn-centric" design to one that is water-wise and provides habitat for wildlife.
