The Program: This class covers two subjects: how to manage your mid-Summer garden and how to prepare for your Fall/Winter garden. The mid-Summer garden lecture covers tomatoes and other vegetable varieties, Integrated Pest Management, soil amendment, irrigation, and starting vegetables (lettuce, Swiss chard, kale, etc.) from seed harvested this summer. The Fall/Winter Garden lecture covers vegetable varieties for the fall, when and how to start from seed, how to transplant seedlings to your garden, soil preparation, irrigation, pests, and problem solutions for popular Marin County vegetables.
The Speaker: Joe Jennings is a Marin Master Gardener who grows vegetables year- round in his home garden. He graduated from Whitman College and earned an MBA from the University of Washington.
